Our very own esteemed Red Seal Chef embodies the definition of a culinary connoisseur.
From his early childhood in Casablanca, Morocco, Chef Khalid was imbued with the generosity of spirit that flowed onto his mother’s table, where meals were abundant and delicious.
In his mid-twenties, Khalid trained in French cuisine at the Institut d’hotellerie, immersed himself in the Italy restaurant scene (where he won 2nd prize for the best young talent in Arona, Italy), and had a residency at the Aroma restaurant in Paris. After returning to his home in Morocco, he won numerous awards including the 4th prize in 2015 in the prestigious competition Bocuse d’Or Maroc for Best Chef.
In 2016, he was one of the best chefs on MBC’s reality show, Top Chef- Dubai. He was thereafter invited to develop a new luxury bistro-style restaurant at the Palmeraie Country Club in Casablanca under the signature of a group headed by the renowned Michelin star chef Alain Ducasse.
Through an introduction by mutual friends with the owners of Palate, he found like-minded people who shared a vision of presenting a new kind of fusion cuisine to the restaurant scene in Vancouver. He is eager to offer a unique menu embedded in the Canadian brunch tradition that will invite the palates to travel between Rome, Paris, and Marrakech.
